Why is my knee cap no longer smooth?
ok well i had a previous post asking about my knee, but ive just recently noticed that the injured knee no longer feels smooth on touch like the other one does... it kinda feels ridged like there's cracks in it... my most obvious thought was a fracture but apparently i wouldnt be able to walk if it were but i can im just unable to kneel down.
anyone with advice... AND DONT TELL ME TO GET IT CHECKED AT THE HOSPITAL...ALREADY HAVE AND WAITING ON MRI RESULTS...IM JUST REALLY CURIOUS WHILST WAITING... so any suggestions much appreciated..

You can walk on a fractured patella. The knee cap is a sesamoid bone and only acts as a lever arm to bring your lower leg straight. It's actually a part of the quadriceps muscle mechanism. It has no weight bearing properties. The tibia and femur are the bones that support your body weight. The only problem with the knee cap were you to break it would be if it separates and then you'll have a hard time straightening your knee. You may have cracked it but not separated the fragments of bones. Like breaking a glass. It's cracked but not shattered. You can still put water in it but if you were to bump it then the glass falls apart. Bones are no different.
